Inez Milholland honored in West Hollywood!

For over a decade the City of West Hollywood, CA has honored women during Women’s History Month in March with large, colorful banners throughout the city. From the light posts hang images of prominent women who have made history.   Some of the many women honored are Rosa Parks, Adrienne Rich, Sally Ride, Shirley Chisholm. Maya Angelou, Nancy Pelosi, Jane Fonda, Mary Pickford, and LGBT leader Barbara Gittings.

This year, 2017, West Hollywood honored Michelle Obama and suffrage leader INEZ MILHOLLAND.  The two women joined the other banners for the month, and will reappear in the future. Martha Wheelock, shown here, is the filmmaker of “Forward into Light,” the 15-minute film popular for use in schools, colleges, and for organizational programs.

We’re busy in 2017 honoring Inez Milholland & continuing the work of 2016!

2016 had lots of events and celebrations for women’s suffrage history! on Vimeo.

The year 2016 featured Inez Milholland (1886-1916) with a special centennial campaign coordinated by Marguerite Kearns and Bob Cooney under the umbrella of the National Women’s History Project. We haven’t closed shop—rather we’re continuing the work in 2017, the centennial of women voting 100 years in New York State. Inez was a New Yorker. She will be included in the exhibit opening on November 4, 2017 at the New York State Museum in Albany, NY. And we’ll be busy behind the scenes with various projects.
