One hundred years ago the women of New York won the right to vote, thanks in part to “the lady on the white horse.” A graduate of the NYU School of Law, Inez Milholland used her looks and her brains to bring attention to the cause of women’s suffrage. Called the “Poster Girl of Radicalism” by NY Times, this lawyer, war correspondent and outspoken crusader for social justice literally worked herself to death for the cause of women’s suffrage. Storyteller Darci Tucker will bring her back to life. (Appropriate for adults and youth 12 and older.)
Darci Tucker, playwright, actress, and storyteller, has told stories at festivals across the US, created a character interpretation program at a TN university, and regularly performs her original, one-woman play, Revolutionary Women, in schools across the nation. She founded American Lives in 2000 to bring history to life for students and museum visitors. www.americanlives.net
